No matter what we say about her, we could never do this woman justice. Dalya Darwish is not just a regular CrossFit athlete, she is the holder of the title ‘Fittest Woman in Egypt’ for the years 2015, 2016, and most recently, 2018 in the CrossFit open competition.
First things first, what is CrossFit Open? It is a worldwide online competition that lasts for 5 weeks. Every Thursday a new workout is released. Everyone has to do the same workout then submit their scores online. By the end of the 5 weeks, the athletes with the highest scores from each country move to regionals. In the regionals, 20 of the best athlete from every region join to compete over 5 places at the CrossFit games in the United States.
A few days ago, the 33-year-old athlete won the title for the third time. There is more; Dalia is not just a kick-ass athlete; she is also a super-mama. Although she was training up until the last few days of her pregnancy and postpartum as well, Dalia couldn’t compete last year. Only when her baby Nour turned 8 months old, she sent him to a nursery and pursued her training journey. She only trained for 5 months before she joined the Open this year, but thanks to the help and support of her coach and husband Ramy Saleh she won the title again.
Dalia’s goal for the coming year is to qualify for regionals. To reach her goal, she has to be one of the top 20 of her region, Africa and the Middle East. This year she came in 34th place. With her strong will and determination, we believe she can reach her goal in no time. Congratulations to Dalia on her new achievement and we wish her all the best.
