Kayaks, Deserts & Lakes | Wild Guanabana
April 6 @ 5:00 pm - April 8 @ 8:00 pm
We’re welcoming the season of blooming flowers, sunny days, and that long-awaited Easter break with a trip to Fayoum. There, you’ll get to kayak down lakes in serenity, hike across the desert, and camp in tents for a few days away from the city’s hustle and bustle.
Day 1 – Off to Fayoum, the First Kayaking Day (L/D):
We’ll meet near the WG headquarters to take the bus ride. The bus will drop us off by the at the waterfalls of the Rayan Southern Lake, where we’ll kayak 6km down to Camp 1 to eat lunch in the middle of the lake and enjoy a remarkable view.
After rinsing our bodies with fresh water and a brief rest at Camp 1, we will then prepare our dinner together, followed by stargazing, sharing stories and perhaps playing some games.
Day 2 – Into the River (B/L/D):
Today, we’ll wake up to an early breakfast to fuel up for 12km of kayaking! If we’re lucky, we’ll be able to see the flamingos and kayak to the sound of birds. We can pause for some birdwatching! Once again, we’ll have a mid-lake lunch, this time on an island! After kayaking, we will hike 4km to Camp 2 where we will rinse off the salt and begin preparing dinner. Tonight, we’ll eat enjoying the quaint and beauty of the desert life.
Day 3 – Village, Lake & Homebound (B/L):
After breakfast, we’ll hike a 5km path to the buses that will transport us to the Village of Tunis for lunch. We’ll get to witness a wide view of Lake Qarun, a salt-water remmant of an ancient freshwater lake. While in the village we’ll also have the opportunity to check out local pottery shops and get a few souvenirs. Buses leave for Cairo by 2-3pm.
