Why am I not losing weight? The frustrating timeless question you annoyingly counting calories and being mindful of portion sizes while working out for weight control. The answer is our bodies are complex and quite sensitive to daily stress or lack of sleep or the minute we put something wrong in our bodies.
Quit counting calories
Shift your focus on what you’re putting in your body rather than how much. Make better nutritional decisions. Put it this way, what’s better a 200-calorie cookie or a 200-calorie serving of fruit? The culprit or Trojan Horse here is not the cookie but what’s inside that cookie the sugar and the fatty butter over time and over-consumption of these add up and sneaks the weight on you. Instead fill your body with amazing vitamins, minerals, and filling fiber! In other words, a calorie is not a calorie – it all depends on what it has to offer. This is one of the most valuable weight loss lessons to learn.
Avoid processed foods
It’s time to ditch processed foods. First, let’s define processed foods: Basically, anything changed in some way before consumption. The opposite of natural or organic. Example: Ultra-processed foods include pizza, potato chips, pastries, hot dogs, turkey cold cuts, etc. Those are the main culprits, but there are other numerous bad choices. Choose vegetables, goat cheese, fry cauliflower, lamb meat. It’s all about making good choices.
Why they’re lacking in nutrition
Processed foods are not only calorie heavy but also are sky high in saturated fat, trans fat, sodium and sugar. Not to mention, the preservatives and additives which all throw your diet efforts out of whack. Remember this, a salad trumps a burger any day.
Ditch the dairy
Let’s face it: dairy is not meant to be consumed by humans but by baby calves to grow. Example: milk, cheese, yogurt -all commercial dairy pasteurized products. That means they are exposed to higher temperatures for extended periods of time for sterilization purposes. There is actually a law about how much pus is allowed in these products. Pasteurization also makes it very difficult to digest these foods. This means the body has to use up all of its precious enzymes to break them down. Dairy is highly acidic which is detrimental to your digestive system. Meaning it’s hard on your skin hence the onset pimple or acne. Also, dairy can wreak havoc on your gut that’s why that pudding or ice-cream can give you an upset stomach.
Why you may feel bloated
Most humans are lactose-intolerant. Meaning most of us don’t produce enough lactase to break down the sugar in dairy products hence the significant bloating. Replace regular milk with coconut or almond milk.
Consume plenty of fiber
Fiber is complex carbohydrate found in cell walls of all plant-based foods. Example: Fruit, Vegetables, Whole Grains, Legumes (Beans, Lentils), Nuts and Seeds.
Take my advice
It’s well worth the effort to reduce your exposure to hormone-disrupting chemicals and opting for organic produce instead. Better to save than sabotage your diet efforts, right?
