On Friday and Saturday, December 13th & 14th, 2019, Tough Mudder finally made its way to Cairo, Egypt. Tough Mudder is a mud and obstacle course that tests physical strength, stamina, and mental grit. “With no podiums, winners, or clocks to race against, it’s not about how fast you can cross the finish line. Instead, it’s a challenge that emphasizes teamwork, camaraderie, and accomplishing something almost as tough as you are”.
This first edition of Tough Mudder Egypt featured two distances: Tough Mudder 5K and the Mini Mudder obstacle course. The Mini Mudder challenge is a 1.6K obstacle run specifically designed for children between the ages of 8 – 13 and over 1.1m tall. Tough Mudder 5K on the other hand is a 5K run studded with 13 best-in-the-industry obstacles and challenges including Pyramid Scheme, Everest, The Gauntlet, and Mudderhorn.
The participants had the choice to either take part as individual participants or as part of a team, regardless of its size. Participating teams included Maadi Athletes, Core Gym, TWC-Train with the Champions, Move Egypt, OnTrack, Monsters Sports Performance, Gold’s Gym Egypt, Stamina, and many more. All finishers walked away with an experience of a lifetime, a finisher’s headband and T-shirt, amazing pictures, and, most importantly, the honor of becoming part of the Mudder Nation.
