Habiba El Kobrossy‘s dream was to become a model. She has been trying to get into the field since 2014. It was quite a rocky path; she was groundlessly expected to pay excessive amounts of money and take useless courses in hopes of getting a chance at an interview. She was quite discouraged and the negative comments she received were so demoralizing that she gave up on her dream.
Having put modeling behind her back, Habiba started taekwondo. Her coach was the role model that she needed; he taught her discipline, perseverance, and determination. He motivated her and pushed her to study modeling on her own and practice her walk and expressions.
One day the taekwondo club where she trained had a commercial to shoot and an international photographer came from Scandinavia to do the filming. Habiba was there that day and the photographer decided to give her her first professional photo session when he saw her. The shoot rekindled her modeling passion and she started pursuing agencies once again. Nothing had changed, though; the crippling requirements were still the same. She was getting nowhere until she got to a real agency that granted her an interview. The agency had so many comments and concerns so Habiba took in all their criticism and worked on herself. When she went back, they saw how serious and motivated she was and signed her right away.
Habiba has since been signed internationally to four of the leading cities in fashion, taken part in Milan Fashion Week, and signed in several European countries as well as in Dubai.
While doing all that, Habiba remained a very active member in the fitness field. In taekwondo, she scored a gold medal in her first international Taekwondo championship in Holland and is now teaching the sport at The International Taekwondo Center. Habiba is also a fitness coach at LA7.
“Fitness and modeling changed my path in life. I am not working in the field of my study anymore but rather traveling the world and accomplishing things that I never deemed possible, both in sports and fashion. I feel more empowered and more independent. I learned a lot about myself and realized that I should always strive for improvement. It is never too late to chase your dreams. Never doubt yourself or listen to the negative people trying to put you down.”
